Dock Diving is an exciting sport where dogs leap off a dock into the water, showcasing their athleticism and enthusiasm! Hosted through the North America Diving Dogs (NADD) organization, participants can compete in thrilling events like distance jumping, air retrieve, and hydrodash. Disc is a fast-paced and fun sport where dogs and their handlers team up to play exciting frisbee games! Hosted through UpDog Challenge, participants can compete in a variety of games that test their dog’s speed, agility, and catching skills. Fast CAT is an exhilarating sport where dogs race against the clock, chasing a lure in a 100-yard timed dash. Open to dogs of all breeds and sizes, participants earn points based on their speed, making it a fun and rewarding event for all skill levels. The Coursing Ability Test (CAT) is one of the easiest and most beginner-friendly ways to dive into the world of dog sports! In this exciting event, dogs chase an artificial lure along a 300- or 600-yard course, testing their instinct and agility. To qualify, dogs must complete the course in under 1 ½ minutes or 2 minutes, depending on the distance. Barn Hunt is a thrilling sport that taps into your dog’s natural hunting instincts! Dogs navigate through a straw bale course to locate hidden tubes containing the scent of rats, testing their nose and problem-solving skills. Open to dogs of all breeds and sizes, Barn Hunt is tons of fun for both you and your dog. It’s the perfect way to bond while exploring your dog’s instinctual talents. AKC Fetch is a fun and engaging activity designed for all breeds, offering dogs and their owners a chance to bond through the joy of retrieving! Part of the AKC Family Dog Program, Fetch provides both physical and mental exercise while teaching valuable skills. With four levels—Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Retriever—dogs progress from basic retrieving to more challenging tasks like memory-based retrieves and responding to signals. Open to dogs 6 months and older, AKC Fetch is a pass-fail, noncompetitive test that’s perfect for dogs of all skill levels. Visit the event page for more details and to get started!
Scent Work is an exciting and rewarding sport that turns your dog’s incredible sense of smell into a fun and engaging game! Inspired by the work of professional detection dogs, Scent Work challenges dogs to locate hidden cotton swabs infused with essential oils like Birch, Anise, Clove, and Cypress. This sport is perfect for all breeds and is especially great for boosting confidence in shy dogs. With the canine leading the way, handlers rely on their dog's nose to guide them to success. AKC CGC & Trick Dog Testing is the perfect way to showcase your dog’s skills and enhance your bond through fun activities! The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test is a 10-step program that evaluates your dog’s behavior and obedience in real-world situations, like walking politely on a leash and interacting with people. Trick Dog Testing challenges your dog to perform a series of fun and impressive tricks, with titles ranging from Novice to Master. Both tests are non-competitive and offer a great way to build confidence and strengthen your connection with your dog.
