Your Dog’s New Favorite Weekend: KLIMB Classic 2025

Jun 25, 2025

If you’ve ever thought, “My dog would love something like that,” this is your sign.

This July, we’re inviting dog lovers of all kinds, not just pros or trainers, to join us for the KLIMB Classic, a one-of-a-kind event in Maquoketa, Iowa that celebrates all the fun, goofy, adventurous things dogs love to do. Think of it as summer camp meets a dog-friendly fair, with plenty of chances to try something new, watch amazing dogs in action, and just enjoy being part of a dog-loving community.

And if you can’t make it in person? No problem, the Virtual KLIMB Classic lets you join from wherever you are.

Whether your dog is a couch cuddler, a backyard zoomie pro, or a ball-chasing machine, there’s something here for you both.

What Is the KLIMB Classic?

Held July 10–13 in Iowa, the KLIMB Classic is hosted by Blue-9 Pet Products and features a weekend full of dog sports, food trucks, shopping, beginner-friendly activities, and lots of wagging tails.

This isn’t just for competitive handlers or experienced trainers, it’s designed for real-life dog people, like you.

You can come to:

  • Watch the action

  • Try new things with your dog

  • Explore vendor booths

  • Grab a bite to eat

  • Or just hang out and soak in the dog-friendly vibes

Best of all, many of the sports include “try-it” sessions, so even if your dog’s never done anything like this before, you can both test the waters in a fun, no-pressure environment.

“Wait... What Is Dock Diving?”

We get it, dog sports can sound a little intimidating if you’re new to the scene. So here’s a quick cheat sheet to what you’ll find at the KLIMB Classic:

  • Dock Diving – Dogs run and leap off a dock into a pool. It’s cool (literally), splashy fun!

  • Barn Hunt – Your pup uses their nose to find safely enclosed rats hidden in straw bales. (No rats are harmed, and dogs LOVE this!)

  • Disc (Frisbee) – Catching and retrieving flying discs, or rolling one, great for energetic dogs.

  • Fast CAT & CAT – Dogs chase a fast-moving lure in a fenced course. Like a doggy drag race!

  • Fetch Challenge – A structured version of fetch (for the ball-obsessed crowd).

  • Scent Work – Like a nose-powered treasure hunt. Super fun for curious sniffers.

  • Brush Hunt – A variation of Barn Hunt where pups us their nose to find safely contained rats in outdoor simulated brush.

  • Canine Good Citizen & Trick Dog Testing – Show off your dog’s manners or tricks and even earn a title!

Don’t worry, you don’t have to know how anything works before you show up. The “try-it” activities are meant to help you explore and have fun together.

Why Try a Dog Sport?

You don’t need fancy titles or special training to join in. Most dogs, and their people, just want something fun to do together. Dog sports can help:

  • Build confidence and trust

  • Provide physical and mental exercise

  • Strengthen your bond

  • Break up the everyday routine

And for many people, events like the KLIMB Classic are where they discover their dog’s hidden talents, or simply make memories together trying.

The Right Tools Make It Easier

If you’re curious about training or sport-style activities, tools like the KLIMB training platform are a great place to start. You can teach tricks, practice focus, and build core strength right from your living room or backyard.

And for walking, warming up before a sport, or working on manners, the Balance Harness helps keep your dog comfortable and gives you better control—without pulling or pressure.

Join Us—Online or In Person
